✧ ARTIST STATEMENT

I love to visually explore the world around me, often finding myself looking up and around at objects and the sky, noticing light's influence on colors and textures created by the change of time. Through context removal and the use of symmetry, the imagery in my work strangely separates itself from our everyday lives while also creating a sense of familiarity in the new and unseen. I work to design a sense of harmony and wholeness in the seemingly incomplete, urging the viewer to acknowledge modern day's fast-paced society as a culture built to bury the mindful art of noticing.

Dalia Jean (b. 1984) is a Cleveland-area native, lifelong artist, and high school art educator with 15 years of experience. A creative thinker and self-published author, Dalia’s artistic journey is characterized by a continual exploration of visual storytelling, with an emphasis on personal connection to nature and human experience. She earned her BA in Art Education from Baldwin Wallace University in 2011, followed by a Master’s in Education Technology Management from Tiffin University in 2022. Richly decorated of honors, awards, and earned scholarships, along with her nomination as employee of the month (November 2024) for her school district of employment, Dalia’s rapidly growing resume demonstrates a tenacious commitment to growth and achievement. Her works have been featured in several exhibitions, including the 2025 Annual Juried Art Exhibition at Bay Arts in Bay Village and the Artists of Rubber City exhibition at Summit ArtSpace in Akron. In 2020, Dalia published the children's book Be Still, Love Nature. Her current work builds upon the themes explored in her artist statement, continually pushing boundaries in both education and artistic practice.
